Early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson Deep Fruit Bowl (9in) - 1940/1950's
Price: £sold
Description: A beautiful example of an early hand carved and adzed deep fruit bowl. The very rich patina and almost chestnut colour is indicative of its maturity and unique grain pattern, The bowl has a very well carved mouse typical of this early period . Evidence of an early repair to the bowl, but does not detract from what is an excellent and rarely found example of early mouseman Thompson work. Dimensions are diameter 21cm, height 7cm. Note: The mouse signature was moved on these large bowls to the centre of the bowl in the late 1950’s, and the later bowls made slightly wider and much shallower. See Mouseman Later Fruit Bowl.
