Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson Oak Box - 1940's/1950's

An early Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson Oak Box, originally used for cigar's and cigarettes, but now better known as a trinket box. The box has taken a rich dark fumed colour with excellent patina. The box is lightly adzed all over and has a very unusual and distinctive carved mouse, with a high back and long thin pointed head. Exterior condition is excellent with a waxed finish, and there are some indication inside (ink marks) that the box has been used to store pens rather than cigarettes. Dimensions are 8.7 cm high (excluding mouse) x 18.9 cm long x 10 cm wide. Modern boxes post 1955 are generally wider at 11cm. 

Mousey Thompson Trinket Box
A rich dark fumed colour - the result of the years of careful aging.	A rich dark colour signifies much maturity. Light adzing is visible on all sides.
Naturally seasoned english oak provides the rich grain pattern with subtle adzing.	Hand carved mouse with thin pointed head and high back is the identity of the master carver.
It has the rich characteristic dark'aged' fumed colour with a waxed finish.	.
